I know it's kinda shameful, but I'll always have a soft spot for Marilyn Manson. He was my idol and dream man when I was a little chubby 12 year old goth, and I still listen to his music when I'm feeling particularly angsty...
I actually credit Marilyn Manson with giving me the courage to start dressing in unusual (if quite hideous) clothing, giving me the confidence to be unashamedly weird, and helping me realise that you don't have to be 'perfect' looking to be sexy. When I feel shy or quiet, and can't face the outside world, (S)aint is the song that gets me riled up and ready to bust balls. Manson also encouraged me to get into the alternative community, and through that I learnt so much and became so much happier with myself.
However, I do think Manson's low point came with that awful Heart Shaped Glasses album. It was obvious he was feeling very hurt and angry about his split with Dita, and it made for a fairly dull, and whiny album, which came across as far too My Chemical Romance-y.
When I heard he was making a new album, I was certainly intregued... The boyfriend showed me the Born Villain promo video last night, and I must say, it looks promising.
I was happy because it features suspension, skewering, and a split tongue, and the boyfriend was happy because it features boobies and vaginey..... Plus Manson is looking actually rather fit (if a little like Will Self...)!
He went through a chubby, hillbilly looking phase recently, but he seems to have gone for a more age-appropriate look now. He had a weird little haircut that made his hair look like it had shrunk, so I'm glad he's done away with that!
